Saint Laurent Ads Are Banned Because Models Are Too Unhealthy.
Recently, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has issued "Shen Wei" again. It banned Saint Laurent Paris, which was advertised in the English version of ELLE. The female model in the advertisement was extremely thin and weak, and the thigh and calf were almost equally thin and weak, while the clavicle and ribs were clearly visible.
ASA says that advertising like SLP is irresponsible because it's unhealthy to watch models from advertisements.
For the punishment of ASA, SLP luxury brand Yves Saint Laurent SAS, which belongs to the French company, disagrees with the description of ASA's "unhealthy thin", but does not give details about the model. Therefore, ASA still maintains the original sentence. The advertisement is banned in the British market.
As France had just passed a new amendment in early April, it banned the model broker companies and fashion brands from using thin models. According to the amendment, the "skinny" definition was Body Mass Index (height and body mass index) below the standards stipulated by the Ministry of health and the Ministry of labour Ordinance.
The amendment also stipulates that if a brokerage firm or a fashion brand is illegal, it will be punished by a maximum of six months' imprisonment and a fine of 75000 euros.
Therefore, as a French brand, Saint Laurent Paris Paris has been rapidly becoming a global media hotspot because of its thin skinning punishment, including the famous media such as BBC, Time and CNBC.
