In 2010, the cost of picking flowers in the reclamation areas of Xinjiang Corps was on average ranging from 1 yuan to 2.5 yuan per kilogram, and the income of pickup workers reached 4664 yuan, an increase of more than 1/3 compared with 2793 yuan per capita in 2009.

At the same time of organizing the artificial picking, in recent years, the Xinjiang Corps has continuously increased the popularization of machine picked cotton to cope with the shortage of pickers and overspend. At present, the area of machine picked cotton reaches about 1700000 mu, which accounts for 23% of the total cotton planting area of Xinjiang Corps.
