A few days ago, the Swedish chemical administration announced that it plans to submit a document prohibiting the import of nonylphenol polyoxyethylene ether (NPE) textiles into the EU by the European Chemicals authority before August 2012, which will push the European Union to ban the sale of textiles containing nonylphenol polyoxyethylene ether (NPE).

Last year, as Greenpeace released a survey of NPE materials, it aroused public concern about environmental pollution in the textile industry.

Many international clothing brands, such as Adidas, Nike, Puma, CONVERSE, KAPPA, Lining (9.25,0.35,3.93%, real-time quotes), H&M and so on, have been detected to contain NPE.

NPE is a basic chemical raw material, widely used in textile, papermaking, cleaning, personal care products and other manufacturing processes.

In the relevant European Union REACH standard, the content of NPE added to chemical additives in textile production process should not exceed 1000 mg / kg, but the content of NPE contained in textile products has not been specified so far.

It is reported that from last year to the first quarter of this year, Zhangjiagang has exported 7000 groups of textile and clothing to the European Union, with a value of nearly $200 million. Once the EU prohibits the import of textiles containing nonylphenol polyoxyethylene ether (NPE), it will have a great impact on the export of textile and clothing in the city and even in the country.

To this end, the inspection and quarantine department suggests that textile and garment export enterprises should keep abreast of changes in relevant foreign standards and technical regulations, pay attention to their own technological upgrading and production process improvement, and actively adopt ecological environmental protection auxiliaries, strictly control the limits of toxic and hazardous substances, so as to ensure the smooth entry of products into the international market.
