China'S First Seaweed Fiber Production Line Starts In Shaoxing
Seaweed, seaweed and other seaweed besides food, what else can be done? A textile enterprise in Shaoxing gives a new answer: making fiber.
Reporters learned that Zhejiang Yue long Holdings Limited successfully launched the first domestic seaweed fiber production line, mainly used as medical dressing.
It is reported that this is the first domestic textile industry related to marine economic strategy.
"Producing seaweed."

The process is to extract a substance called alginate from seaweed and other seaweed, then precipitate calcium alginate with other substances.
Then through the technical means, make seaweed fiber, eventually become non-woven fabric.
Lin Peng, deputy general manager of Shaoxing blue ocean Fiber Technology Co., Ltd. of Zhejiang Yue long Holdings Group Co., Ltd., told reporters that in March last year, they introduced the project from Wuhan Textile University, and the industrialization of experimental results was the first time in the world.
"The first production line was put into operation in Keqiao at the beginning of this year, with an annual capacity of up to 500 tons."
"At present, many companies use our seaweed fibers to produce medical dressings, which have a good response.
Next, we will add the production equipment of non-woven fabrics as soon as possible, and provide terminal products to the market. "
Lin Peng said.
"Seaweed fiber has a significant antibacterial effect, so making medical dressing can faster wound healing and shorten healing time than ordinary cotton material."
Wang Ronggen, chief engineer of Zhejiang Yue long Holdings Group Limited, said that because of skin affinity, they also intend to make alginate fibers into clothing fabrics for the production of infant clothing, women's underwear and facial mask.
At the same time, because of high flame retardant, it can also be used for making special clothing such as fire-fighting clothing.
"China is rich in seaweed resources, including Zhejiang, and all the coastal cities have enormous reserves of algae.
Moreover, it is closely related to the marine economic strategy and belongs to the strategic emerging industry. Therefore, the development of seaweed fiber project has a bright future.
Yao Mu, academician of the Chinese Academy of engineering, one of the founders of China's textile materials science, said that it is gratifying that Shaoxing textile enterprises first stepped out of this step.
