Dancing Shoes

The year 2009 is the 70th anniversary of the birth of The Wizard of Oz. In order to pay tribute to this great fairy tale film, 20 top international designers are rebuilding another kind of "ruby shoes". Maybe they don't have the magic power of Dorothy's ruby dancing shoes, but they definitely have the "magic power" to capture the hearts of fashionable women. Have you ever watched Judy Garland's The Wizard of Oz as a child and envied those magic "ruby shoes"? The 20 designers are Testoni, Abaet é, Alberta Ferretti, Betsey Johnson, Botkier, Christian Louboutin, Diane von Furstenberg, Giuseppe Zanotti, Jimmy Choo, L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani, Lisa Pliner, Manolo Blahnik, Moschino, Oscar de la Renta, Roger Vivier, Sergio Rossi, Stuart Weitzman, Tibi and Tuleh. Note: Each designer's work only produces two pairs! They will first appear during the New York Fashion Week on September 4 this year, and will be displayed in the shop window of Swarovski on Fifth Avenue. Thereafter, there will also be touring exhibitions in the United States, including the soon to open Bassel Art Exhibition in Miami. Finally, they will be auctioned next autumn and winter, and the proceeds will be donated to the Elizabeth Glaser Children's AIDS Foundation. We are looking forward to 20 surprises. From left to right and from top to bottom, the pictures are Sergio Rossi, L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani and Dorothy's ruby shoes in The Wizard of Oz designed by Moschino. Betsey Johnson designed a pair of high heels, "I made the heels as high as possible, the vamp was covered with dots, and there was a tulle bow," she described. Jimmy Choo uses red snakeskin and cage shaped toe cap, presenting a quiet and stable style. From left to right and from top to bottom, the picture shows Dorothy's ruby shoes in the Wizard of Oz designed by Testoni, Botkier and Amy Smilovic. Amy Smilovic changed the traditional dance shoes into low top boots with exposed heels. "We use red alligator skin to highlight the sense of luxury, and then use a flower to show femininity. We want to shape Dorothy into a strong and beautiful woman," Smilovic said.
