President Trump, on Sunday, sharply strengthened China's pressure on a trade agreement, announcing that this week will raise tariffs on $200 billion in China's US goods, and will soon impose tariffs on other hundreds of billions of dollars in Chinese goods.

Us and Chinese officials are scheduled to hold a new round of trade talks in Washington this week. Trump announced this before consultation.

White House officials on Sunday afternoon were not sure whether Trump's tweets would affect this round of trade negotiations.

In February, Trump decided not to raise the tariffs of $200 billion on China's US exports from 10% to 25%, due to progress in trade negotiations.

But Sunday's tweet overturned the decision. He said the tariffs on these Chinese goods would be raised to 25% on Friday.

Trump also said he would soon impose a 25% tariff on another 325 billion US dollars in China's exports to the US, and hinted that these measures would not lead to higher prices for American consumers.

"Tariffs paid to the United States will hardly affect the cost of production, which is mainly borne by China.

Negotiations on trade agreements with China are still going on, but progress is too slow because China is trying to renegotiate.

No way! "

Trump said.

Tariffs on Chinese goods are paid to the United States by companies importing these commodities; most of them are American businesses.
