According to the research report released by Locatus of Holland bank and Research Institute, "the garment industry in Holland will further decline, and more than half of the garment industry retailers have declined in this (2019) year".

To (2018) the overall sales growth of the clothing industry in Holland was 2%, thanks entirely to online sales. If net sales were eliminated, its turnover would decline by 5%. ABN Amro expects that the garment industry will grow at zero in 2019.

The recession of Holland's garment industry has been declining for some days. Because of the fierce competition among the industries, the rise of virtual warehouses has forced traditional physical outlets to further defend themselves.

The researchers said that because fixed costs accounted for a large part of the total cost, the decline in sales directly affected profits. The average profit rate of children's clothing stores, women's wear shops and men's wear shops (operating performance) ranged from 3% to 5%. The average profit rate of underwear stores was 2%, while the average profit of mixed fashion shops was negative.

Surprisingly, the location of the store determines the difference in revenue. The clothing store in the top A area is 3 times more profitable than other areas, and sales per square meter is 4 times higher.
